I found that the Midland MXT400 will support split tone, wideband, and channel naming. I created a short YouTube video to demonstrate the programing software:

Thanks, I think it was you I was listening to Thursday evening. My usual spot to hit the repeater wasn’t let me get through clear that night.

I really appreciate the time you took on your video but I’m going to ask you to take it down because you are posting the tones and frequency of private repeater.

Thank you for the understanding of the situation.

Another cable that works with this is available from Amazon. Do search for Zerone 8 in 1 USB Programming Cable

I circled in green the plug that works with the MXT400. Just to note: The microphone MUST be unplugged when you use this plug in the data port.

Well I got what I needed to program my 400 hooked it up to my computer, started the software and read the radio. To my surprise the 8 repeater channels were already set at 25K channel spacing. I bought the radio 5 or 6 weeks ago so I’m guessing Midland figured out their goof and send the new radios out preprogrammed to 25K in the repeater channels. All the other channels were 12.5K.

I’m hoping I got the split codes programmed right and not backwards.
Decode = output at the repeater
Encode = input at the repeater
or do I have it backwards/

Would you be willing to do a video on everything else in the programming software. I tried to look some of it up but couldn’t find anything.

Any idea on if this RSS would work on other Midland MXT models? I have several of their other MXTs and may even consider trying to read the radio before tossing the dice and making any changes. Changing Wide to Narrow and vice verses as well as renaming channels would be amazing!

    Good morning,
I understand the programming software works on a Midland HAM radio but definetely not any other MXT model. I have an MXT275 that I’d love to change to wide band but it’s not happening with the software. The MXT400 is the only MXT that will accept the programming software. I spoke directly with Midland support and asked that question specifically.

Sorry, it will only work on the MXT400.
